About me.

As a reporter, my goal is to capture the world around me with honesty. I like to tell stories through sound, writing and photography. My work has appeared on CBC Radio, Nosy Mag, Kingston Life Magazine and Capital Current.

I initially pursued a career in psychology because I wanted to share people’s experiences carefully and accurately through scientific research. While interviewing wildfire survivors in rural British Columbia for a study on the mental health impacts of climate change, I realized journalism would give me a platform to bring my affinity for conversation and curiosity to storytelling. Getting my master’s in journalism gave me the experience to find my niche, the discernment to parse out vital information and the media production skills to communicate it effectively.

I specialize in current affairs reporting, art and culture, sociopolitical phenomena and where these areas intersect. I am also a photographer with experience in portraiture, sports and street photography.

An early story that I wrote about vinyl records got me interested in sound studies and the relationship between music and culture. That interest led me to produce an in-depth multimedia piece about the Whiteness of Canada’s punk music scene, and the experiences of Black and racialized punk rockers.

Outside of my academic and professional journey, I am a musician, knitter and at-home baker. Originally from Brockville, ON, a small city by the Thousand Islands, I spend my spare time watching video essays, writing sad songs on my guitar named Wilbur and walking around Ottawa with a chai latte in-hand.
